Former Navy SEAL Jake Silver feels hardwired for his work with a private global search-and-rescue team. But no matter how many successful saves he completes, it never feels like enough to outrun the mistakes of his past. Renowned pediatric surgeon Dr. Aria Sinclair understands all too well the lasting damage of even the tiniest miscalculation, especially when it involves her heart. When the arrival of a deadly hurricane leaves Jake and Aria stranded in Key West, the two decide to ride out the storm in the local hospital while fighting to keep the patients, and themselves, alive. This is the second book in Warren's Global Search and Rescue series, following The Way of the Brave (2020). In one of her signature moves, an explosive opening segues into high-stakes action that does not relent until the final pages. Warren keeps readers in suspense throughout a Category 5 hurricane and its perilous aftermath with harrowing details. Amid the chaos of this natural disaster, the characters' understanding of heroism is underscored by Christian messages of self-forgiveness, grace, and sacrifice.

Warren continues the story of Jake Silver and Aria Sinclair in this exhilarating second installment of her Global Search and Rescue Series (following Way of the Brave). Jake, a former Navy SEAL, now works on a private organization's global search and rescue team . Aria is a surgeon who travels the world to serve children with heart conditions. When Aria heads to South Florida to speak at a medical conference, Jake (who once rescued Aria on Mount Denali) receives a misdirected text message and assumes Aria needs rescuing. He heads to the Florida Keys as the area is being evacuated ahead of Hurricane Lucy. Along with Mimi, an elderly woman suffering from a lung disease; Mimi's granddaughter; and a pregnant woman whose boyfriend just dumped her, Jake and Aria hunker down in an otherwise abandoned hospital as Lucy upgrades to a Category 5. As Warren's characters deal with a fire and injuries and make a bold attempt to find better shelter before the storm intensifies, strong lessons of faith, fortitude and forgiveness emerge. Both Aria and Jake must also grapple with unresolved issues from their past while fighting strong mutual attraction to each other. Warren once again delivers a high-action inspirational that explores how love and faith ground those on the brink of disaster. (June)
